TORONTO, ON – The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) is excited to announce that global icon Nelly Furtado will induct Sarah McLachlan at the 2024 Induction Ceremony presented by Amazon Music at Massey Hall in Toronto on September 28, 2024. Also today, the CSHF is proud to reveal that multi-JUNO Award winning superstar Lights, as well as 2024 inductees Tom Cochrane and Diane Tell, have been added to the powerhouse line-up of artists set to perform. Tickets for the induction ceremony are on sale via Ticketmaster

This year’s esteemed group of songwriting inductees – all scheduled to perform – includes: iconic storyteller Tom Cochrane, co-leaders of the legendary band Blue Rodeo Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, international superstar Sarah McLachlan and Quebec’s emblematic and pioneering singer-songwriter Diane Tell.

For the first time ever, the CSHF has also announced today that Amazon Music will exclusively stream the entire Induction Ceremony and exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews live via the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. The live stream broadcast intermission show featuring exclusive artist interviews will be hosted by JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter and Canadian Screen Award-winning TV host, Keshia Chanté. The broadcast will be available globally to watch on Twitch on Saturday, September 28 at 7:00pm ET.

“Songwriters are the backbone of the music we love, and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame has made it their mission to celebrate and honour the songwriters who have contributed to this country’s storied musical heritage. At Amazon Music, we share this goal, that’s why we’ve joined with CSHF to stream their biennial celebration and bring the event to an even wider audience,” said John Murphy, head of Amazon Music Canada.

Lights joins previously announced guest performers: AHI, Adam Baldwin, Brett Emmons (The Glorious Sons), Dominique Fils-Aimé, La Zarra, Gary LeVox (Rascal Flatts), Terra Lightfoot, Matt Mays, Metric, William Prince, Sam Roberts, Ariane Roy, Rafaëlle Roy, Dallas Smith, Tenille Townes and Whitehorse

Multi-platinum selling artist and television personality Marie-Mai is set to host the ceremony. In addition to Furtado, the 2024 honourees will be inducted by: actor/comedian Pierre Brassard, legendary hockey broadcaster Ron MacLean and music icon and member of Triumph Gil Moore

As announced last week, the 2024 recipients of the Breakthrough Songwriter Award, presented by the CSHF and Amazon Music, are Aaron Paris and Fredz, recognized for their outstanding songwriting achievements as emerging songwriting stars. In addition to receiving a customized development plan by Amazon Music, which will include playlisting, high-profile songwriting sessions and camps, travel support, and access to international recording studio, Aaron Paris and Fredz will be recognized at the induction ceremony.

Following the Induction Ceremony celebration in Toronto, the Class of 2024 inductees will be indelibly honoured at the CSHF’s permanent location at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre in Calgary, which features exclusive artifacts and one-of-a-kind memorabilia celebrating Canada’s greatest songwriters and inductees.

The CSHF extends its gratitude to the 2024 Induction Ceremony sponsors: Amazon Music, RBC Foundation, Kilometre Music Group, YouTube Music, Hargraft Insurance, SOCAN Foundation, Germain Hotels, Boucher Guitars, Slaight Music, CMRRA, El Mocambo and Songwriters Association of Canada.

ABOUT CANADIAN SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME
The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) is a national and non-profit organization that is dedicated to honouring and celebrating Canadian songwriters and those who’ve dedicated their lives to the legacy of music. The CSHF also works to educate the public about these achievements, and to foster the next generation of songwriters through year-round initiatives and events. In December of 2011, SOCAN (the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) acquired the CSHF; and the Hall of Fame continues to be run as a separate organization, guided by its own Board of Directors, comprised of both Anglophone and Francophone music creators and publishers, as well as representation from the record industry. The CSHF’s mandate aligns with SOCAN’s objectives as a songwriter and publisher membership-based organization. www.cshf.ca
